Dr. Darryl Luke Pokea, keynote speaker and presenter, offers presentations, workshops, seminars, and in-services on the following topics:

Dr. Pokea will share his model that he has developed in his 30 years of experience for a comprehensive psycho neuro physical understanding of stress. He will offer specific techniques to go beyond stress with an appreciation and understanding of the physical and emotional vulnerabilities that we all have.

Its not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.
– Hans Selye

We all experience stress. Whether we use it for learning is determined by our mind’s understanding of its effects upon the body and the relaxation and meditation we practice to return to the moment and understand. Compassion towards ourselves and others releases the stress. As we are compassionate toward ourselves on the inside of our bodies and let the stress release, so too, we are compassionate on the outside of our bodies in our interactions with others. Thus the opportunity is offered for them to release their stress as well.
– Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

Dr. Pokea illustrates how gratitude and appreciation have profound effects in reducing stress for the 50 trillion cells that make up our bodies. The second half of this seminar emphasizes experiential exercises that include deep relaxation and meditation that will be customized specifically for your group by Dr. Pokea.

Read Dr. Pokea’s recently published article with profound insight about the short and long term effects of stress on the body: Choosing Happiness Instead of Stress for Your Body

We are each sculpting the physical dimension of our body by what our mind focuses upon, consciously or unconsciously. Dr. Pokea will address what we call in the Western world, the mind body spirit connection, from a perspective which integrates holistically the current known science and ever expanding spiritual consciousness.

Every thought we have is releasing a shower of chemicals and creates the ‘matter’ of our bodies. The words others say and what we say to ourselves can, ‘matter’ and become part of our flesh as our mind continually filters for us what is unhealthy or healthy for our body.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

We Can Stress or Fortify our DNA’s many expressions. Shifts in our consciousness shift the embodiments of our DNA. At the deepest levels of biological communication, the many possible blueprints of our DNA sculpt our body as they are dynamically affected by how consciously we process life events. The twist that protects our DNA becomes vulnerable and begins to uncoil as we lose consciousness and become disheveled in daily life. Likewise, as we live virtuously with the intention of learning life’s lessons with ease, our DNA’s expressions in the body are fortified with the courage of Spirit that guides the peace-filled mind to return harmony and health to all the cells of the body.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

The hidden need to feel “certain” masks disguised fears that may disrupt our mind and body and lead to “dis-ease”. Any unprocessed fear dwarfs whole brain learning, problem solving, creativity and innovation. We can learn to acknowledge and be aware of these, our very human fears. In doing so we become more at “ease” in all our whole brain learning and daily decisions. When we utilize all of our right, left, and emotional (creative) brain processes in conjunction with our “gut sense” of things from our body, all of our many decisions, program or curriculum design and implementation will be easier in our service to others.

We are all facing the challenges of multi-tasking in modern civilization. These challenges can be met both creatively and responsibly if we let our mind/body processes be our teacher in understanding their responses and in nurturing ourselves responsibly. There are certain physiological states of the body and states of mind, which can assist in a greater receptivity to creative ideas, thoughts and practical design of curriculum and its creative implementation. Dr. Pokea will share his insights and discuss physical and mental states conducive to being at ease. He will share some of the techniques utilized by writers, inventors, artists, musicians, scientists, and other creative problem solvers throughout past and current history. We can know we are in the moments of the fullness of creative thought and problem solving when “all solutions are effortlessly explored and understood” Then the implementation in the classroom or workplace follows efficiently, effortlessly and easily.

Dr. Pokea includes experiential techniques with this presentation that assist in opening the body and mind to being at “ease” and receptive to effortless creative thought, authentic problem solving, comprehensive program design and more efficient implementation. Dr. Pokea also allows time for both questions and discussion in this presentation.

Our immune system is intermixed with our neurological system, so our thoughts are continually influencing our resistance to disease. Even our genetic and biological predispositions do not have to express themselves when we fully understand that the immune system continuously eavesdrops on all our perceptions and world views over our lifetime. Dr. Pokea will address a multiplicity of dimensions (including the importance of spiritual health) and our lymphocytes (white blood cells) dancing and moving actively when we have genuine experiences of joy.

On all healing matters, the Spirit doesn’t make any mistakes as it guides the Mind which in turn guides the body. This is true for all ‘matters’ of this physical world and of particular importance for ‘real’ healing of what we refer to in our culture as, mind and body.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

There are certain physiological states of the body and states of mind, which can assist in a greater receptivity to creative ideas, thoughts as well as creative implementations of them. These physical and mental states will be discussed with some of the techniques utilized by writers, inventors, artists, musicians, scientists, and other creative problem solvers.

Our Creative Mind is unlimited since the Universal Spirit unites and shares all creative thought given through each of our Spirits. We can know creativity is of our Spirit when ‘all solutions are effortlessly understood’.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

This presentation and seminar is for people who want to learn how they can become more active participants in managing their pain in conjunction with the interventions by their physicians and other complementary practitioners. The seminar will impart information, understanding pain from a mind, body, & Spirit perspective, and include practical experiential exercises.

Our response to pain is intricately interwoven with our emotions, relationships with yourself and others, and the influences of our culture. In regards to the later, we are taught that ‘Bayer works wonders’ and we have less experience that our mind, body, and Spirit together can work wonders.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

As we receive pain signals from an area of the body, we have a choice in how we deal with that experience. If we become angry at or reject the region in pain, the body will shout out louder and louder through pain, trying to get our attention so healing elements can be mobilized. Negative thoughts or feelings in response to pain, do have physiological consequences that can postpone healing and lengthen the body’s suffering. Our thoughts, feelings, and self-verbalizations release a shower of chemicals. These can either inhibit or potentiate the release of natural pain killing chemicals like endorphins or dynorphines. They also can either lesson or increase muscle tension in the painful region of the body. Muscle tension and vaso-constriction (closing of blood vessels) in these areas of distress can inhibit circulation. This lack in blood flow deprives the region of oxygen, cellular nutrients, and tissue repair elements as well as the biochemical calming we may need. Relaxed, healing thoughts towards the area of distress, lead to biochemical changes so that the body’s metabolism can be devoted to healing rather than hurting. When we are experiencing pain, we can learn to welcome the signals the body is sending for repair and healing.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

Dr. Pokea will share his experience and the many visualizations that his clients have discovered during their ordeal with cancer. Complementary cancer therapies will also be discussed. Meditation, incorporating visualizations specific to strengthening the immune system, will be an integral part of this presentation or seminar. Anyone who wishes to understand and support healing processes in themselves or others with cancer, are welcome to attend.

Our lymphocytes (immune cells) are more balanced and active in the body as we have genuine experiences of joy, even in the midst of life threatening illness. Peace of mind, and connectedness to one’s Spirit are avenues that lead to that joy.

(also titled: Exploring the Wonders of Creation in the Universe and Ourselves)

We are interconnected and interrelated with all life. Every time we consciously support and witness the rebirth of a forest or any ecological system, we are supporting the same within our own bodies. The presentation/seminar will explore how the pulsations of life are parallel in the earth and in our own bodies. Our organs, tissues and all of our cells each pulse in their own vibratory patterns. Our bodies are intermingled with the rhythms of the earth.

We are all made of the same stuff. The stuff of our bodies is the same stuff of the earth, the stars, the universe. We are composed of earth matter and the elements of the earth compose (calm) us. There is a deep healing that takes place when we experience the composition of beauty in nature around us and within us. When we exclude earth (elemental) consciousness, we set up cascades of ecological disharmony in our bodies. We cannot ignore the stuff that we are made of. When we ignore Gaia (Earth), the subtle effects occur at the deepest levels of our mind. The consequences can be profound in our loss of peace of mind and corresponding physical health….Just as children cannot ignore that they have features from both of their biological parents, we cannot deny that our bodies are connected to the earth and its multitude of features. Holding our body with reverence is holding the earth with reverence. Holding the earth with reverence, we are holding our body with the same reverence. They are the same symphony, orchestrated by the same Master. They are the same composition.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

We each know what genuine respect and reverence feels like in our minds and bodies. As we know it, so too our children know it; they show each of us their comfort level with the ‘matters’ of this world. All of us have a choice in deciding how much we participate in a web of violence or peaceful expansive kindness. We are the models for our children and each other. The violence in our schools and events of ‘911’ all point to the necessity of remaining connected to one another. While we all need to remain conscious of the events occurring in this world, we must actively know our thoughts and recognize that they ‘matter’. Each of us must fully realize that what the mind focuses upon matters and we can decide what we want to matter in this world and among ourselves.

Reclaiming our humanity may be the single most important task for our species in these times. As we adults rediscover this, then it can be kindled in our children and consciously lived again.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

One out of three of us will deal with cancer. Each of us will know someone close to us with the disease. Dr. Pokea will share his work with cancer patients and their teachings about replacing fear with courage, through the deepest connections with Spirit.

All of us can benefit by being conscious of the spark of Divinity in our DNA that regulates Creation of all of our cells, keeping our bodies healthy and well.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

So many times relationships have the expectation that meeting the right person or having children will ‘make it all better’. Far too often, emotional pain is being passed around to one another. This inhibits the lessons we each came here to learn. You have to be in a healthy relationship with yourself, before you can be in healthy relationships with others. Each of us is on a journey to explore this relationship with our Self, and truly appreciate friendship and love in one another and our Creator.

No one can be a container for another person’s physical or emotional pain. When we try to do so, we are depriving that person of the lessons that their Spirit came into this existence to learn. We can, however, walk with and support one another.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

For the deepest wellness in our bodies, we must understand the influences of our family of origin, as well as the family of all our fellow humans on our planet past and present. We are to accept the best from each of them, and leave the rest behind.
Darryl Pokea, Psy.D.

This presentation or seminar is for those who wish to understand, appreciate, and support the dynamic healing process in our bodies. The process is intricately connected with our mind and Spirit. There is no separation between mind, body, and Spirit. Any interference in the harmony between them leads to some manifestation of disease. Every thought we have is releasing a shower of chemicals that creates the ‘matter’ of our bodies. Through our thoughts and emotions, we are deciding what we want to matter in the bodies we each have. This seminar will focus on the current understanding and integration of physiology in the body, the influences of thought and emotions, and our Spirit guiding the entire process. Dr. Pokea will share his work with cancer patients and those with other immune and autoimmune disorders. He will illustrate how the continuous restoration and “re-creation” of our body’s tissues are interwoven with the fabric of our immune system. The perceptions we have of ourselves and others, and our connection with Spirit, reflect our resistance to disease over our lifespan.

Our lymphocytes (immune cells) are more balanced and active in the body as we have genuine experiences of joy, even in the midst of life threatening illness. Peace of mind, and connectedness to one’s Spirit are avenues that lead to that joy.
